The Lakeland Booksellers have developed the 2026 Lakeland Book Crawl as a 3-day event, culminating in National Independent Bookstore Day on Saturday, April 25th. Here are some example itineraries for those who would like to follow a 1, 2, or 3-day “crawl.”
If your week has some flexibility, this 3-day itinerary is your guide to crawling your way through all participating Lakeland Bookstores! We've done the navigating, so all you have to do is grab an extra book tote and use this itinerary as your cheat sheet.
Thursday: Kick off your customized book crawl year at Bookends, where Connie has shelves of over 100,000 books for you to browse (and buy, of course) your morning away. Make sure to grab your Book Crawl Passport and then drive only 5 miles to Pressed Coffee and Books, the one-stop bookshop for breakfast AND books! Even better – you'll receive a free coffee with the purchase of a new book.
Friday: Today is all Dixieland! Check out Inklings Book Shoppe, located inside of a historic home turned bookstore, where every room is a different genre, and make sure to inquire about Finley's trade credit program while you're at the checkout counter. Then drive a few blocks to The Unbound Bookery. Prepare to be awed at Sandi's beautiful book collection and reminisce through the classics you'll just have to take home. Don't forget to peek into the clothing and gift collections of The Bungalow Boutique, where The Unbound Bookery is located.
Saturday: Today is the day to start at BookaReaderville! As Lakeland's largest used bookstore, make sure you don't get lost roaming each genre room because you'll still want time to crawl close by to another Lakeland Bookstore, Crash Bookshop. This pop-up shop will get your creative juices flowing as you discover Brooklyn's unique book selections. After a brainstorming lunch session (there are several restaurants close by), end your book crawl afternoon with, No Covers (formerly Little Bus Books) mobile bookshop on wheels AND storefront. Sharing a space with Plant Local (formerly The Nectary), a native Florida plant nursery, you'll have double the shopping opportunity! Then end the day by attending the Book Crawl After Party!
If your week was packed with adulting and now you're ready to get your Lakeland Book Crawl party started, then this is your guide to crawling your way through all participating Lakeland Bookstores in 2 days! All you have to do is grab an extra book tote and use this itinerary as your cheat sheet.
Thursday or Friday: Head to Bookends Used Books to kickstart your 2026 Lakeland Book Crawl with a plethora of reading materials to choose from! Head south on Florida Avenue until you reach Dixieland, where you will find Inklings Book Shoppe located in a historic home and welcoming to all wanderers. A few more blocks south will take you to the cozy shops of The Unbound Bookery and store partner, The Bungalow Boutique, where you can find the perfect outfit to match your favorite book.
Friday or Saturday: Start out your day by visiting the shiny vintage mobile bookshop, No Covers, formerly known as Little Bus Books. Save a little time for sprucing up your favorite outdoor reading space with a native Florida plant from storefront partner, Plant Local (formerly The Nectary), then continue to fill your reading nook with festive finds by making your way to Combee Road, where you will find BookaReaderville, Lakeland's largest used bookstore. End your crawl by getting your creativity soaring at Crash Bookshop. If Saturday is your day to crawl, then make sure you end the day at the Lakeland Book Crawl After Party!

The Lakeland Downtown Farmers Curb Market is every Saturday from 8am – 2pm, in which some of our downtown streets are closed. While cross streets are open, book crawlers should be prepared for extra parking time and cautious driving due to the increase of pedestrians.
